Ugly Betty to be available on Veoh.com
25 Jun 2008 | by: mona | 0 Responses

(MarketWatch) -- Walt Disney Co.'s ABC and ESPN said Monday that they've forged a deal with online video provider Veoh Networks to make full episodes and clips available from such programs as "Lost," "Desperate Housewives" and "Pardon the Interruption" available at Veoh.com.

The shows will be delivered using ABC.com's proprietary broadband player. Other ABC programs to be offered include "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Ugly Betty," while additional ESPN content includes "SportCenter Right Now," "Mike and Mike in the Morning" and "Around the Horn."

At Veoh.com, viewers can access ABC and ESPN channels through tabs located on the homepage or through the Web site's video search function.
"This deal expands the distribution of our quality programming through our own broadband players, growing the reach of our advertisers while maintaining their direct association with our powerful network brands," said Matt Murphy, senior vice president of digital video distribution for Disney and ESPN Media Networks, in a statement.

FTV Monte Carlo 08 & Chris Update
24 Jun 2008 | by: mona | 2 Responses

Becki Newton & Michael Urie attended the Monte Carlo film festival a few weeks ago and the team atSpoilersfrance.com / Uglybetty.fr filmed the entire interview.  You can check it out at this address.http://spoilersfrance.com/uglybettyserie/home.php?page=videospecials12 .

This letter from a reader who wrote into the cheers/jeers section of TvGuide Magazine, reacting to a news item that earlier reported that Christopher Gorham will not be returning in the fall, was in this week's issue.   I thought it was a rumor and sort of still do just because its too early to say and things change a lot with the third season barely even starting back up.  But you can also take solace inthis conflicting update from the new TV Guy at TvGuide that says we haven't seen the last of him.

Vanessa Williams Moves Home
12 Jun 2008 | by: lauren | 4 Responses

Remember those Penthouse nudie pictures that temporarily robbed Vanessa Williams of her 1984 Miss America crown? Even as her star was rising in the early '90s, they came back to haunt her when Disney decided she wasn't fit to take part in a family-friendly project.

"I was supposed to do one of the voices in 'The Lion King,' " Williams, 45, recalls outside her trailer at the Santa Monica Airport after rehearsing her hosting duties for the TV Land Awards (Sunday at 9 p.m.)

"I had met with the directors, saw the (story) boards and everything, and then was told through my agent that I would never be Disney material. That was 16, 17 years ago, so it's interesting how far we get. Now I'm a Disney employee."

More like one of its major stars.

Next month, Chappaqua's Williams begins shooting her third season as wicked Wilhelmina Slater on "Ugly Betty" on Disney-owned ABC, while wrapping up her role in Disney's "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

As her wicked Willie would say: Ain't revenge sweet? [READ MORE]

Ugly Betty: The Musical?
30 May 2008 | by: lauren | 5 Responses

A direct quote from Michael Urie: “They do want to do an "Ugly Betty" musical, a full-on Broadway musical, but it’s all hush-hush. I think it would be great, and they should use the cast from the show. I think we would all do it, although we maybe don’t dance and sing as well as professional singers and dancers. I think it would be fun for us to do it for a while, and then they could get real people in. They definitely want to do an episode that is a musical one, but then they want to do a full stage show. I think it’s a great idea. It would definitely work.”

I also went to the Paley Center event in New York last week and it was really good.  I met some really fantastic people from other sites and learned so much from them about how to improve the site and the Fansite experience, Jennifer from the Connect With Your Teens Blog, attended the event and wrote a wonderful article about it.  So come season 3, this will be a bigger, better, Ugly-Is-In.com.   I have some ideas of what I want to implement in season 3, but if there is something that you want to see on the site, please feel free to email me and let me know!

Also,  Victoria Beckham.Ru, So You Think You Can Dance & All New Sarah Michelle Gellar joins us as new affiliates.

E! Online Report on Ugly Betty at the Upfronts
13 May 2008 | by: mona | 0 Responses

"Ugly Betty Is Most Definitely Moving to NYC: Says McPherson, "The pilot was shot in New York. The show is based in New York. And the studio made the decision that given the current climate in New York, it made a lot of sense to move it back. We're excited from a production standpoint to have that real New York quality, because as much as people try to cheat New York, it's really hard to do so. So I think it's sort of funny that people are taking issue with the fact that it's cheaper to do a show in New York about New York." McPherson also says all castmembers will be on board, but that Rebecca Romijn has "left the show." When asked why, he says Rebecca's run was always supposed to be a limited engagement and now that run is over. (Something tells me that's news to Rebecca.)

Ugly Betty Is Getting Back to Betty: "Silvio [Horta] is very smart to do what he's doing. I think that on Ugly Betty, there was sort of a flight of fancy that was going on there and it was funny, but I think it got away from the core that really is the heart of the show. And some of the episodes at the end of this year have gotten back to that." Also, LiLo will be back. "[Lindsay Lohan] is going to do more episodes next year. I don't know that the New York move will affect that, but she is doing more than one episode next season.""

Schwarzenegger Backs Fired 'Ugly Betty' Crew
13 May 2008 | by: mona | 0 Responses

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has offered his support to angry crewmembers on TV series Ugly Betty, who will lose their jobs when the show moves from Los Angeles to New York. Producers last week made the decision to relocate the set to make the most of new tax incentives on offer in New York. But the move will leave 300 people out of work, including dry cleaners, caterers and construction firms. The disgruntled employees grouped together to take out an ad in Hollywood trade paper Variety, appealing to Schwarzenegger to help stop the loss of more business. Addressing the letter, the governor insists tax incentives have been drawn up - but have yet to be approved by the California legislature. He insists they are a necessity, if the state wants to keep its status as the home of movies and TV. He says, "What happened was productions that shifted to other states, didn't come back to California; they went to Louisiana, they went to Florida, they went to New Mexico because they give great tax incentives."

Official Move Announcement
12 May 2008 | by: mona | 0 Responses

NEW YORK - Production of ABC's "Ugly Betty" is moving to New York.

The announcement was made Monday by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Governor David Paterson and ABC Studios President Mark Pedowitz. They say the show will take advantage of a 35 percent tax credit from the city and state when it makes the move from Los Angeles.

"Ugly Betty" stars Emmy winner America Ferrera as Betty Suarez, a young woman from Queens who works for a fashion magazine.

The comedy will be filmed in Manhattan and Queens. It is expected to create more than 200 full and part-time jobs.

"Law & Order," "30 Rock" and "Gossip Girl" are filmed in Manhattan.
