Betty, still missing Henry, fights her attraction to Gio, but later finds herself stuck with him when both volunteer to chaperone Justin's middle school dance. Meanwhile, Hilda tries to get Coach Diaz to notice her; Amanda agrees to do a reality show with her dad and Daniel feels the heat when Wilhelmina makes her triumphant return to Mode amid a media frenzy.

Though the show takes place in New York, Ugly Betty isn't actually filmed there; the first two seasons were filmed in Los Angeles. However, with Gov. Paterson's new tax credit program, the show may uproot and make a move east.

Variety reports that the city may be cast in its own role as early as next season. But just as New York was unhappy about losing movie money to Connecticut, LA doesn't want to bid farewell to Betty. If it goes through (ABC hasn't commented just yet), over 100 employees of the show will be left behind. In the coastal tug-of-war, Paterson's plan is the strong arm; under it "the percentage of qualified film production costs eligible for a tax credit tripled, from 10% to 30%. New York City chips in an additional 5% tax break."

Last year, production designer Mark Worthington discussed the “New York scenery” that the show uses, which is all created digitally. Blue screens and computer imaging, along with "high definition digital video of New York City that was pre-shot and then superimposed," all make up the faux-NY. Fun fact: Broadway & 3rd in downtown Los Angeles looks exactly like Queens!

Lindsay Lohan will be joining the cast of Ugly Betty as a guest star!! She is already filming her character for the Season Finale of UB.

The extra million from the Britney Spears guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother, is a prime inspiration for the folks at Ugly Betty.   According to TvGuide, the ratings are not as exiting as before and the higher ups believe that having Lindsay Lohan would be an awesome boost for the show.   She may appear in the season finale and may also be back next season for an eight episode arc.  Check out the Ausiello Article for more details.

Romjin has become a regular castmember since first appearing as Alexis Meade in the first season of the ABC TV show.

A third series has been approved, but Romjin will only return for guest appearances - hinting that she has fallen out with new writing staff recruited after the Writer's Guild of America strike late last year.

She tells NYPost.com's Pop Wrap, "They made a tremendous amount of changes, especially with the writing staff (during the writer's strike).

"And while I know I'll be coming back next season, with all the changes, I'm not sure they can take care of my character they way they have been. So I'll be leaving, back in a recurring capacity, but time for me to leave and find something else." "

Ausiello over at TvGuide had some dish about what's going on with this "Before older ugly - Betty" switcheroo.  Betty is going to be a chaperone at what I will imagine is Justin's school dance and see her Mode life center stage on the dance floor.  They are looking for a Betty, Amanda, Daniel & a Gio.

Ausiello: OK, but you'll probably want to sit down for this: In a shocking move that will prove less so once I place it in the proper context, producers have decided to recast the roles of Betty, Amanda, Daniel and Gio. But there's a twist (i.e., the proper context I spoke of earlier). In an upcoming episode, Betty observes younger versions of some of the people in her life while she's chaperoning a junior-high dance.

Multiple unnamed moles (all of 'em Ugly) confirm to me exclusively that Dimples Cibrian — aka ABC's go-to guest star of late (see also: Dirty Sexy Money, Samantha Who?) — has been cast as Justin's phys-ed teacher slash eventual boyfriend to Ortiz's Hilda. He'll appear in three episodes this season and could return in the fall.

"Project Runway" judge and Elle magazine fashion director Nina Garcia and fourth season winner Christian Siriano will pay a visit to Mode in an upcoming episode of ABC's award-winning comedy, "Ugly Betty," produced by ABC Studios. Garcia and Siriano will film their scenes in early April and the episode will air in May sweeps on the ABC Television Network.

How fierce will it be when Christian and Nina meet Betty, Daniel and the other Modies? Stay tuned.

The Bravo "Project Runway" stars join a long list of fashion forward guests who have appeared on the hit comedy series, including Victoria Beckham, Vera Wang, Kenneth Cole and Tim Gunn. "

"Ugly Betty" showrunner Silvio Horta has made a beauty of a deal with ABC Studios.

Scribe has signed a two-year, mid-seven-figure pact that will keep him aboard ABC's Thursday-night dramedy. Pact will also give him the opportunity to develop new projects for the Disney-owned studio.

Pact reps one of the first big overall TV deals to be confirmed since the WGA strike ended last month. For the scribe tribe, it's a hopeful sign that such agreements haven't become extinct, particularly when the talent involved is attached to a successful series.

News comes just weeks after ABC announced an early season-three pickup for "Betty," which is now filming a handful of episodes to finish out its strike-shortened second season. It also follows the departures of "Betty" exec producers Marco Pennette and James Hayman.

"Betty" returns to the air following its strike-induced hiatus on April 24. The Alphabet will run five more originals of the dramedy this season.

"Ugly Betty" is learning to speak Chinese.

A Chinese TV station says it plans to make a Chinese version of the Colombian series about a plain woman trying to fit in at a fashion company.

Hunan Satellite TV said in a statement that a woman with no prior acting experience had been cast as the female lead, while the lead male had not been decided.

The station said it was planning 400 episodes of the show over five seasons, with shooting to start in April at a new studio in the central city Changsha, where the broadcaster is based.

The air date of the show, called "Invincible Ugly Woman" in Chinese, has not been decided.

The Colombian telenovela "Betty la fea" or "Ugly Betty," about an ordinary woman who tries to fit in at a fashion design company, has been dubbed into several languages and has spawned numerous adaptions, including a U.S. version.
