Twenty-five years after bouncing from Syracuse University with her Miss America crown in tow, Vanessa Williams will finally receive her bachelor of fine arts degree during graduation exercises Saturday.
The 45-year-old star of ABC's "Ugly Betty" will also deliver the convocation address to graduates of Syracuse's College of Visual and Performing Arts, according to the Associated Press.
The actress-singer attended Syracuse's drama department as a musical theater major from 1981-1983. She left after making history in 1983 by becoming the first black Miss America. But she turned in her crown in July 1984 after Penthouse magazine published nude, sexually explicit photographs of her taken several years earlier.
The entertainer went on to sell more than 4 million albums, star on Broadway and appear in dozens of television shows and films. She has won a Tony, received two NAACP Image Awards and nine Grammy nominations.
She earned the remaining credits for her degree through industry experience and performances on stage and screen.

Ugly Betty co-star Eric Mabius will soon be a daddy again. According to the Associated Press, the 37-year-old actor's wife, interior designer Ivy Sherman, is expecting their second child. Mabius says the couple, who have a one-year-old son, don't know the gender of their next arrival yet. Mabius plays playboy editor Daniel Meade on Ugly Betty. He says Sherman was "very frustrated" that she hadn't gotten pregnant before the writers strike ended, figuring the couple would have to wait until summer. Mabius adds, "I proved her wrong."

Carlo Siliotto was born in Rome. He studied guitar and violin and later composition at the Conservatory of Frosinone, under the guidance of Maestro Daniele Paris. He was a founding member of the group "Canzoniere del Lazio", with whom he adapted pop and traditional Italian music. In 1984 he decided to focus his attention to writing film scores. Since then, Carlo has composed music for over 70 films internationally including FLUKE, THE PUNISHER, and NOMAD: THE WARRIOR, for which he earned his first Golden GlobeT nomination. His upcoming projects include THE RAMEN GIRL and THE TREE OF LIFE

Ashley Jensen has admitted she fears her character could get written out of Ugly Betty.
The actress plays fashion designer Christina McKinney on the hit US show, but is afraid her character will be killed off in a lift accident.
"I still think I am going to get found out and they will send me home," Jensen is quoted as saying in the Daily Express.
"I've heard there's a favourite soap exit - your character opens an elevator door then disappears down the shaft - so I scan the scripts anxiously for any elevator scenes. Beware the shaft!"
Jensen rose to fame in the Ricky Gervais show Extras. She now lives in Los Angeles with her husband, former The Bill actor Terence Beesley.
